Chelsea, SW3 · Design & Build
Twelve horticulturists, landscape architects and RHS-qualified gardeners. Credentials from Kew, Chelsea Physic Garden, Capel Manor, Pershore and the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens. One studio, every corner of London.
We are gardeners first. Designers, builders, project managers — yes, all of that — but plants are the heart of what we do. After Pershore, Atlanta, Chicago, Ohio and running the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens, I came to London to build a studio that approaches every garden — the smallest Chelsea roof to the largest Hampstead estate — with that same botanical seriousness.
Twenty years of commissions, from intimate balcony schemes in Belgravia to sweeping country gardens in north London. Filter by category below.

What The Botanical Gardener have in abundance is knowledge of and passion for plants. A wonderful small oasis of colour and scent in the middle of the city's bustle.
We cannot speak highly enough of Alex and the team. The transformation of our 'prison yard' is remarkable and exactly what we hoped to achieve.
Highly knowledgeable, reliable and competent in every respect. They have shown great good taste and understanding. They are really nice people.
Thanks to you and the rest of the team for a great job — very impressed and will be recommending to anyone who comes over.
Everything looks great — we're very pleased with our new garden. The team has been fantastic, so many thanks to them.

The Botanical Gardener was founded in 2005 by Chris Warren — MIhort, Pershore College graduate, and former head gardener at the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens. Before Jerusalem, Chris trained at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, Chicago Botanic Garden and Ohio's Holden Arboretum.
What began as a single expert's vision has grown into a 12-person team — horticulturists, landscape architects, RHS-qualified gardeners, former botanical-garden staff and environmental scientists. Between them they have gardened in Atlanta, Chicago, Ohio, Jerusalem, Lisbon, Mozambique, Washington D.C. and Cornwall.
Twenty years on, the portfolio ranges from plush rooftop gardens in Chelsea to leafy sprawling gardens in Hampstead. The studio remains, at heart, what Chris always wanted it to be — a botanical practice.
